Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP welcomes announcement of €6.4 million Fund for new research, innovation, science and technology projects
Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP has today urged third level colleges and Irish companies to look closely at the funding opportunities that are available under the recently announced allocation of €6.4million from the 7th EU Research and Technological Framework Programme 2007-2013.
"This fund which is better known by the acronym FP7 supports projects in the fields of agriculture, food, fisheries, energy, environment, climate change and transport issues,” he said.
“Already since January 2007, Irish third level educational institutions and Irish companies have drawn down €213 million under this initiative.
“This is clear example of what the European Union is doing to support economic recovery in Ireland.
“This financial fund, which falls under the competence of Commissioner Geoghegan Quinn is helping to create new cleaner, greener and sustainable jobs in Ireland and within the European Union.
“It is helping to build the Irish economy of the future.
“I would urge interested companies to look at the Enterprise Ireland website and the website of the European Commissioner Directorate for Research to find out more practical information concerning the operation of this FP7 programme.
“Building a more innovative economy is a central component of the Europe 2020 programme, which is the central economic cornerstone of the European Union for the next ten years,” concluded Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP.
