MEP Gallagher to seek an exemption for rural post offices under new postal liberalisation rules
Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP met with a delegation from the Communications Worker's Union (CWU) including its President Charlie Kelly from Letterkenny on Wednesday the 14th of April in Brussels.
Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP said "The Union travelled to Brussels to highlight the very serious impact that postal liberalisation will have on Ireland, Irish postal workers and rural communities".
"Postal liberalisation has already passed through the legislative processes here in Europe and unfortunately the time for implementing the decision is fast approaching."
"I will fully support the efforts of the CWU who are seeking an exemption from the European Commission for rural post offices under the new legislation."
