Statement by Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP on the ratification of the European Commission


"The reality is that the European Union has been living in a political vacuum for many months now. This is simply not good enough because the political problems that we face in Europe are immense. The ratification of the European Commission today provides the green light for the European Union to bring forward measures, which will both maintain and create jobs within Ireland and the European Union."


"Maintaining employment and creating jobs in the smarter, cleaner and greener areas of our economy is the way forward for the European Union. So let us all collectively tackle the problems before us with a sense of determination and purpose and get the European Union back to work! It is worth remembering that Irish companies are drawing down over EUR one million a week under the EU's research and development programme, which falls under the portfolio that Marie Geoghegan-Quinn has been allocated."
