Statement by Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP on the election of John Bryan as new IFA President
Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP today welcomed the election of the new President of the Irish Farmers Association.
Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP said "I would like to congratulate John Bryan on his decisive and clear victory. I look forward to working with John Bryan in Europe over the coming years on many important issues affecting Irish agriculture, our rural communities and the food sector in Ireland."
"From an Irish perspective, there will be many challenges in Europe including the review of the Common Agricultural Policy for the period 2014 to 2021. Important budgetary negotiations are now commencing in Europe on how much money will be provided to Irish agriculture for the period 2014 to 2021. These budgetary negotiations are expected to conclude in 2011. I am confident that we can work together to secure the best deal for Irish farmers and their families."
