COPE CONFIRMS TENDERS FOR P.E. HALL AT POBALSCOIL GHAOTH DOBHAIR TO BE INVITED.
Pat the Cope Gallagher M.E.P has today (11/12/2009) confirmed that Minister
Batt O’ Keeffe has approved the detailed design for the PE Hall at Pobailscoil Ghaoth Dobhair.
The next stage will be to invite tenders for the project as funding of €980,000 has been approved by both the Department of Education (€500,000) and Roinn na Gaeltacht (€480,000),
The new PE hall will comprise of an area of 406 sq metres, with an additional 273 sq metres of ancillary facilities, including a viewing gallery.”
Pat the Cope paid tribute to all those involved in the project. He said “Recognition must be given to all those who have worked diligently to bring this PE Hall one step closer for the School. Not least, to the Board of Management, the Parent’s Association, the Teachers and the Pupils of Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair, whose patience and forbearance over the years will soon be rewarded”.
He stated that “The Building of the PE Hall will bring huge benefits to the Pupils and the Community. Physical Education is a vital part of the School Curriculum, and I would like to recognise the generosity of the various organisations who currently make facilities available to the school at present.”
It is expected that tenders will be invited early in the New Year as planning permission has already been approved.
