Funding boost for two groups in Donegal South West – The Cope
More than €2,300 in funding has been approved for the Pobal ar Aire Gort
a Choirce and some €2,823 for the Castlefin Social Services under the
Community Support for Older People Scheme, according to Pat the Cope
Gallagher MEP.
“I have been informed by Minister John Curran that €2,310 in funding has
been approved for the Pobal ar Aire, Gort a Choirce and €2,823 for
Castlefin Social Services under his Department’s Community Support for
Older People,” said Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP.
“The funding will help to pay for small security measures including a
contribution towards the cost of installing monitored personal alarm
systems, the cost of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, external
security lighting and other small items like locks.”
“While these measures may appear small they often make all the
difference in giving an older person the confidence to remain in their
own homes and at the heart of their communities for longer.”
“I am delighted that the Community Support for Older People Scheme is
back up and running after the recent review. It is a great scheme as it
works with community groups to target resources towards those who need
it most. I would like to commend the workers and volunteers at Pobal ar
Aire Gort a Choirce and Castlefin Social Services for their hard work
and dedication,” concluded Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP.
