Pat the Cope takes aerial tour of flood damage in North West


Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP has taken an aerial trip over his constituency to view the full extent of the flood damage. He was joined by constituency collegues, MEPs Marian Harkin and Jim Higgins as they flew by helicopter over their constituency so as to take stock of the extent of the damage.

Following on from their meeting with the Regional Policy Comissioner, Pawel Samecki last week the MEPs felt it was necessary to get a full appreciation of the problems posed by the flooding and that the best way to do this was from the air.

Having completed their tour the MEPs now propose to meet further with the EU Commission and will be recommending that the air corp should facilitate the efforts by EU officials to view the damage.

The three MEPs are also still confident that the Government application for Solidarity Funding or funding from other sources to help with the flood relief will be favourably considered in Brussels because of the extent and cost of the damage.
