Funding boost for Raphoe Friday Seniors Citizens – The Cope
Almost €1,200 in funding has been approved for the Raphoe Friday Seniors
Club under the Community Support for Older People Scheme, according to
Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP.
“I have been informed by Minister John Curran that €1,197 in funding has
been approved for the Raphoe Friday Seniors Club under his Department’s
Community Support for Older People,” said Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP.
“The funding will help to pay for small security measures including a
contribution towards the cost of installing monitored personal alarm
systems, the cost of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, external
security lighting and other small items like locks.”
“While these measures may appear small they often make all the
difference in giving an older person the confidence to remain in their
own homes and at the heart of their communities for longer.”
“I am delighted that the Community Support for Older People Scheme is
back up and running after the recent review. It is a great scheme as it
works with community groups to target resources towards those who need
it most. I would like to commend the workers and volunteers at Raphoe
Friday Seniors Club for their hard work and dedication,” concluded Pat
the Cope Gallagher MEP.
