Community Support for Older People Scheme to continue - Cope


Pat the Cope Gallagher MEP has welcomed the confirmation that the
Government is to continue the Scheme that administers funding to
community and voluntary groups to encourage and assist them in improving
the security of older people in their homes.

“It has been confirmed that the Community Support for Older People
Scheme is to continue, following a period suspension since last April,”
said Pat the Cope.

“The Government suspended the Scheme to allow for a review and since
then, all interested parties and associated bodies were consulted
including An Garda Síochana, the fire services, and the HSE.”

“Many of the groups that administer the funding were also consulted.”

“I want to warmly welcome the decision because I know that the work
conducted through the Scheme is greatly appreciated at community level
in Donegal.”
