Cope confirms preparation of tender documents for Bunbeg N.S.


Arising out of a meeting between Pat the Cope Gallagher M.E.P. and
Minister Batt O’ Keeffe in at the Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party
Conference in Athlone, approval has been given by the Minister to revise
the Tender Documents in preparation for progressing the project at Scoil
Chonail, Bunbeg to tender and construction stage.

“This is a significant and necessary step in progressing the project,”
Pat the Cope said.

“In early June Minister O’Keeffe agreed to temporary accommodation at
the former Ard Scoil Mhuire in Bunbeg while the refurbishment and
extension would take place. The Department had previously agreed to the
provision of temporary accommodation at Magheragallon for which Planning
Permission had been approved and would have cost up to €400,000. The
new arrangement, by using the facilities at Colaiste Cholmcille (Ard
Scoil Mhuire) will ensure a substantial reduction in costs together with
the value for money now available in the construction sector,” Pat the
Cope said.

Final approval for the transfer to Ard Scoil Mhuire will come out in a
few months time when the Building Programme is drawn up for next year.

“I’m confident Bunbeg will be included in this programme,” Pat the Cope
stated.
