Broadband for Schools in South West Donegal - Cope
Pat the Cope has been informed by Minister for Education , Batt O’ Keeffe and Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan that The Next Generation Broadband Strategy : Gateway to a Knowledge Ireland was published recently . Connectivity to schools will benefit due to the Government’s Investment in Broadband Infrastructure as schools will be equipped with 100Mbits per second of broadband connectivity and Local Area networks (LAN) on a phased basis.
Pat the Cope is delighted to learn that a demonstration project has been set up that will begin this progress. The following Post Primary Schools in South West Donegal have been selected to take part in a pilot project to receive access to 100 Megabits of broadband :-
• St. Columba’s College Stranorlar.
• Pobalscoil Chloich Cheannfhaola Falcarragh
• Gairmscoil Mhic Diarmada Arranmore
• Coláiste Phobail Cholmcille Tory
•
A Steering Group comprising officials from Department of Education, the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural resources and representatives from the National Centre for Technology in Education and HEAnet will oversee the project.
